Hippocrates carved bust

White beech. 25cm high x 15cm square.

Square base in classical early Greek style.
Sealed and lightly waxed.

Huon pine burl, ebonised cedar base. 70cm x 60cm. 40cm high. External deeply folded surface left natural (sealed), with indentation at the rim producing sunrays. Interior shaped and hand carved with inner edge inspired by a mountain escarpment.

The Voyage A Boat From with Female Figurehead, hair streaming back, symbolises The Journey of Life Over the Threatening
Waves.

Tasmanian Leatherwood (the boat design) and Huon Pine (the wave form). The boat design, surfaced from subconscious depths, while the wave form was inspired by Hokusaiís wonderful wood block print of circa 1830.
