Course Overview
This is a one-day course designed as an introduction to the Japanese art form of Kumiko. We will be creating a double “Asa-No-Ha” pattern panel from pre-cut Jelutong strips. The process of cutting and notching the frame members will be demonstrated but your material kit will comprise of pre-cut and notched 10x3mm Jelutong strips along with matching prepared lengths from which you will hand cut and fit the Diagonal, Hinge and Locking pieces within the frame to complete the pattern. The completed Kumiko panel may be enjoyed in one piece or cut in two to provide a pair of coasters.
Materials Provided
All required tools, jigs and materials will be provided for your use on the day.
What To Bring
An apron to cover clothing, drinks and lunch.
Safety
Please wear sturdy footwear, shoes with leather uppers preferred.
