Forest open day for family fun
The many and varied recreational opportunities in State forests will be on show at the Cumberland State Forest open day on Sunday, 17 October.
This family day will showcase information on 4WD tours, rogaining, motorcycles, dog sledding, woodworking and carriage driving.
“There are more than two million hectares of State forests around NSW which provide plenty of recreation sites with camping grounds, picnic areas, walking trails and an extensive network of forest roads to explore,” said Cumberland State Forest senior ranger Susie Kable.
“You can bring your dog, ride your horse or use a registered 4WD or a registered motorcycle.”
There will be face painting and craft for children, guided forest walks and performances by the popular bush band, Simply Bushed.
Adults and children can enjoy trying their hand at rock climbing.
Set among the towering eucalypts of New South Wales’ only metropolitan State forest, the event allows people to gain an insight into forest recreation and some unique ways to experience the beauty of the bush.
The open day will run from 9am to 4pm on Sunday 17 October. Entry is free, with on-site parking available. Cumberland State Forest is located at 95 Castle Hill Road, West Pennant Hills.
