Course Overview
Parquetry is the art of using repeating geometric shapes to create a decorative surface (while marquetry is the art of creating a picture using veneers). In this short course you will learn the basic elements of parquetry by making a chess board and an A3 sized panel ofLouis cubes which would be suitable for the lid of a box. We will cover use, handling and cutting of commercial wood veneers, glues, substrates, vacuum press, shellac and oil finishes.
Materials Provided
All the tools and equipment for the course veneers and substrates.
What To Bring
An apron to cover clothing, dust mask, drinks and lunch.
If you have veneering tools you may wish to use your own but please be sure that they are marked as yours.
Safety
Please wear sturdy footwear, boots or shoes with leather uppers preferred.
