The Gentleman’s Travel Box from another time features a curved exterior, brass hardware & banding finish. It can hold jewelry & passport. The cleated friction fit sleeve covers a grooming mirror
Tim Major - Member Challenge 2023 - Winner Category "Other"
Tasmanian Blackwood 'Tori Gate' frame trimmed with Ebony. The four square Kumiko inset panel is made from Queensland Maple. The pattern is known as "asa-no-ha". Finished with True-oil and wax.
Jointer plane made by James Brodie, fitted with a Hock 38mm wide blade and chipbreaker bought from Lee Valley. Length is 450mm and width 60mm. Cross pin, wedge and handle are in Oak, to provide greater stability and comfort on the push stroke.
Dovetailed box made by James Brodie to hold his Veritas router plane, and with additional accessories and cutters. This box was made with off cuts from the workbench. The lid slides into 3mm dados routed prior to glueing up.
Roubo style plantation mahogany workbench made by James Brodie, the design was inspired by the British woodworker David Barron. The bench top used dominoes, laminated to slot into wedged tenons. Lake Erie wooden leg vice and Gordon end vice fittings.

Marquetry cabinet finished with blonde shellac, by Alex Springall
This guitar was made by Ujwal Bhattarai from New Guinea Rosewood - his own design loosely based on the Fender telecaster. Birdseye Maple is used in the neck & fretboard. Finishes included zpoxy resin, acrylic lacquer, clear coat & true oil !
