Course Overview
One of the most satisfying feelings of woodworking comes from guiding a well fettled plane as it slides through the long grain of apiece of wood on which you are working. The sound of the plane as shavings leap from its throat is so satisfying. A badly set up plane, on the other hand, is a demoralising tool to use. Course participants will learn how to maintain woodworking planes.
Participants will learn how to disassemble, clean, reassemble and fettle a new or second-hand plane. They may bring a plane of their own on which to work or they may use one of the planes provided. Blade sharpening and the correct setting up of a plane and adjustments in use will be included in the course.
