Course Overview
Description
Veneering is an important woodworking technique. As timber becomes scarce it is increasingly important that we use this increasingly expensive resource.
This course will cover sourcing, handling, cutting and glueing veneer to plywood and mdf substrates using both vacuum bags and cauls. An overview of finishing methods will also be covered.
Participants will make A5 and A4 size panels suitable for subsequent use as box lids or serving trays. We will cover 2, 4 and 12 way book matching, herringbone, mitring and stringing.
Participants may choose to bring their own veneers, however the course will supply veneers, shooting boards, veneer tape and ply for backing. Participants are encouraged to bring along ideas / designs to use in the course.
